This video depicts a birthing song or mantra originally taught to me by an old friend.
Listen to my childbirth chant video!
The melody can be heard in the childbirth chant video.
While I’ve heard this melody used with different words before, the words as I first learned them go like this:
The river is flowing, flowing and growing; the river is flowing, down to the sea/
Mother, carry me, a child I will bear to thee; Mother, carry me, down to the sea/
The river is flowing, flowing and growing, the river is flowing, down to the sea/
Mother, carry me, your child I will always be; Mother, carry me, down to the sea/
Many sources, both ancient and modern, are in agreement about singing, chanting, rhythm and repetition as being beneficial and soothing during labor.
Making sounds activates our bodies on an energetic, vibrational level, and often paves the way for emotional release and relief…which leads to physical relief as well.
Perhaps this childbirth chant video will help you if you decide to sing it during labor. My children still ask me to sing it to them at bedtime occasionally!
Let’s stay in touch, k?
